If you're a sports fan, you can't get away from the Favre story, but as a huge Packer fan, I feel like I need to weigh in. Favre wants to come back.
The reality is, the only two people who know the true story are Favre and GM Ted Thompson. But I have to say, as big a fan of Favre's as I am, he's putting the team and fans in an awful position.
I understand, he's a competitor... he's got the urge to come back. He made an emotional decision. But the fact of the matter is, he made a decision. He wasn't forced out. And the Packers moved on. They spent two draft picks on QBs to back up Aaron Rodgers.
Had Favre just done is "will I, won't I" thing again, then came back, they would probably have drafted differently and maybe picked up two more pieces they need to make another run.
And this whole thing about him choosing his team. Yes, if it was me, that's what I'd shoot for. But I can't imagine the Packers letting him go to the VIkings, which objectively speaking, would be the ideal place for him to land.
It's a mess... I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
