My Son, The Soccer Player

So my oldest son is taking part in his first soccer league. He's five. This is quite different than my childhood experience with the sport. I didn't start playing until I was 12.

Soccer at this age is often described as "bumblebee" soccer where all the kids are swarming around the ball. It's a lot of fun, but I'm having to work really hard on getting my son to understand that it's important to have fun as he is obsessed with winning. Everything from getting up the stairs first to finishing dinner is a contest to him.

But he does enjoy playing and always wants to know when he gets to play again.

One last thing... I do find it funny that at work I have magnets holding up my schedule and his next to each other.
