New Main Anchor At WHOI

WHOI will soon be getting a new main anchor. Tim McGinnis comes from WSAV in Savannah, Georgia, where he has worked for the last 10 years as a photographer, reporter and finally weekend anchor. He has won several awards for his work, including an AP award for “Best Documentary” for his reporting work in Kuwait. My friend Christine has this to say about Tim:

"Tim is such an incredible news hound and I know he will be such an asset to Peoria. Tim has done it all--I think he could run a newsroom by himself! From photography to editing to reporting to anchoring he's done it all and excelled at everything he attempts. It's great to hear stories of real journalists succeeding--those are the types of people I want to see on the news. Some one who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do whatever it takes to tell what matters. He's not one of those anchors who always wanted to be a actor but didn't think they could make it -- he's a true journalist."

Tim is married and has a baby boy. His first day will be June 14th, but his on air debut won't be until Monday, June 19th. He replaces Paul Ferrante who has moved on to Phoenix.
