Top TV Dads

Steve Tarter covers potential budget cuts at WTVP, WHOI's improved signal, local award winning radio and in honor of Father's Day, posts his top 10 list of TV dads.

1. Andy Griffith ("Andy Griffith Show"). Down home wisdom, and just look how Opie turned out. 2. Bill Cosby ("Bill Cosby Show"). Can't argue with success.
3. Robert Young ("Father Knows Best"). The '50s model for dapper dads.
4. Hugh Beaumont ("Leave it to Beaver"). We don't know what he did for a living, but we didn't care.
5. Chuck Connors ("Rifleman"). Known simply as Paw.
6. Lorne Green ("Bonanza"). Known simply as Paw, too.
7. Tom Bosley ("Happy Days"). Let's hear it for Mr. C.
8. Carroll O'Connor ("All in the Family"). Now here was a father figure.
9. John Goodman ("Roseanne"). Played the henpecked husband and big dog all rolled into one.
10. Bernie Mac ("Bernie Mac Show"). Those may be his sister's kids, but he takes care of them.
