Big Story Guy

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

CNN is happy to report that its Ted Rowlands broke the story of the rescue of 11-year-old Brennan Hawkins in the mountains of Utah, four minutes ahead of MSNBC and seven minutes before Fox News Channel.
I got to know Ted a little here and there when I worked at KSBW. He was at KNTV at the time when KNTV was still technically the ABC affiliate for our market (Salinas/Monterey) but billed itself as "The San Jose Newschannel" (now it is the NBC affiliate in SF). He would occasionally come down for nightside stories of interest in our market.

He really took the world by storm the summer before I left. He had been covering the murders in Yosemite and had the presence of mind to go to the jail, get an interview and confession of Cary Stayner (Yosemite killer). Since then he's interviewed Scott Peterson among others and apparently was Johnny on the spot so to speak on the missing Utah boy story.
