You Say Toe-may-toe, I Say Toe-mah-toe

This was posted in the comment section at Peoria Pundit.
Does he really pronounce his name Sand OH vel? I always thought that was an
invention of WEEK to make his name sound less ethnic as in Sand o VAL.

If I can dig up some old e-mails, I'll share a pretty funny story about this, but no... WEEK did not invent some way for me to pronounce my name.

WEEK did change the spelling of Laura Skirde's name to SKIRDY so viewers wouldn't think it was pronounced SKIRD.

I don't know how some reporters got through high school. I don't like to make fun of people's names but could you imagine if your name was Alan Pizzey from CBS or worse... how about ABC's Nancy Weiner.

I feel sorry for our local anchors who have to say there names with a straight face.

Those poor reporters.

reminds me of the discussion over brock spencer many months ago when he joined hoi 19. although it sounds very soap opera or tv manufactured, it is his REAL name.

Just for the record, it was the Peoria Pundit, not me, who questioned that name. Bill, I think you owe me money for that one!
